How do I know if counselling is right for me?
If you are finding it difficult to cope, feel overwhelmed, or want a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings, counselling may be beneficial. An initial consultation can help you decide whether it feels like the right approach.
What happens in the first session?
Your first session is an opportunity to talk through what brings you to counselling, your goals, and any concerns you may have.Ruth will explain how sessions work, discuss confidentiality, and answer your questions before agreeing a way forward together.
How long does counselling take?
This varies from person to person. Some people attend a few sessions to address a specific issue, while others may continue longer-term. Ruth will regularly review progress with you.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is kept confidential, except in rare circumstances where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or where legally required. Ruth will explain this clearly at the start.
What qualifications do you have?
Ruth Chaloner is professionally trained and a member of recognised professional bodies: The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and An Accredited Professional Registrant of NCPS. Ruth works to strict ethical standards.
How much does counselling cost?
Ruth Charges £85 per 50 minute session. Couples counselling is charged at £150 per 90 minute session
